Watanabe Sake Brewery Open Day

The open days here are not simple factory tours. The brewers do their best to communicate how authentic artisanal sake is created. At this National Tangible Cultural Asset, successive heads of the Watanabe family have communally maintained a living sake brewery. Even today, the current head shares living quarters with the brewers.
This is not just another site for tourists to take pictures. It’s a place to feel the breath of yeast exhaled from white walls and sense the natural process of brewing. Come and see why this brewery in Hida Furukawa is recognized as a national cultural asset.

In the shop, you can taste and buy sake produced in limited quantities.

Enjoy the white-walled townscape of this famous destination in Hida Furukawa.

The brewer will help you understand what brewing means.
