A snow resort with all the glories of winter.

The Norikura highlands are situated on the flanks of the Hida mountains, and as the perfect spot for a wide range of activities amid natural surroundings welcome over 500,000 visitors a year. With an elevation of 1,200 to 1,800 meters and extensive woods of birch and pine, the spacious fields of the ski resort offer a stunning, unfettered view.
For people who love skiing high in the mountains, we recommend the Mount Norikura Ski Resort. It offers 20 diverse courses, from the Yodel Course for novices and families, to the Antelope Course for expert skiers, with an incline of up to 35 degrees. Some days of the week are discounted, and special events held throughout the year, while visitors of all ages can enjoy the snowboarding building, or barbeques in the snow. Nearby Norikura Kogen Spa is the perfect place to relax after a hard day’s playing in the snow!

Conquer Mount Kengamine, the 2nd-highest peak after Mount Fuji.

The Norikura highlands are also fascinating for hiking, and they are easy to reach because you can drive right up into them. Enjoy the scenery of the Ichinose nature preserve, with lush grasslands under looming Mount Norikuradake; the Sambon Falls, fed by three sources; the Zengoro Falls, plunging over a 21.5-meter drop; and the yet-untouched old-growth forest. There are countless spots here to experience the grandeur of nature, and the slowly changing expressions of the seasons.
Mount Norikuradake, one of the 100 Famous Mountains of Japan, is the name given to the group of 23 peaks commanded by 3,026-meter Mount Kengamine. It is always popular with climbers. Cars are prohibited, but you can take the bus or a taxi to Tatamidaira at 2,700 meters, and hike from there. It takes a novice about 90 minutes, and at the top awaits a stunning view of the highest mountains of Japan: Mount Ontake, Mount Yatsugatake, and Mount Fuji.
